25 Things...

I have done this on Facebook about a year and a half ago. One of the blogs I follow put this on her blog too, and adds things as she goes. I thought it was a good idea, so I decided to add it to mine too! You can see I had to update some things since I last did this.

1. My middle name is Rose, so is my grandmothers, mothers and someday my first born daughter's, I think that middle names should come with tradition/meaning, not just that it sounds nice. Avery's middle name is Catherine, which is the first name of her Great-great-grandma. We are lucky enough to get a five generation photo, as Grandma Catherine is still kickin' at 95! 

2. I work worked as an OB nurse and love what I do, I get to take part in the most amazing thing in peoples lives 

3. On the flip side, I feel that there should be a written exam that people should have to pass in order to procreate, I see some of the DUMBEST people have children and I seriously worry about the life that child will have 

4. I will go back to school and get my masters, I just have no desire, or time to do it now 

5. Tom sometimes catches me staring at him, when he asks what, I tell him "nothing," but really I'm thinking about just how enormously lucky I am to have him and that I cannot bear the thought of not hearing his voice or seeing his face everyday 

6. I think that home ownership is SCARY, but I would not want it any other way 

7. I have a tattoo and want another, my parents don't know that yet, I'm 24 years old and will still get a lecture about it when they do. I'm 26 and they do know about it, and I didn't get a lecture as I thought I would. I still want another one

8. I love wine and want to become a wine connoisseur 

9. I went to 6 European countries when I was 16, and I think a lot about going back 

10. My sister-in-law and I grew up neighbors, and almost 6 years over 7 years ago we realized we were dating brothers, and now are married to those brothers and are neighbors again! 

11. In my family I tend to be the mediator of EVERYTHING, I don't know if it's an oldest child thing or what, but they often get ticked at me cause I won't pick sides to settle an argument 

12. I absolutely HATE rye bread, the smell of it makes me gag 

13. I really don't like Christmas, maybe I'll like it more when we have kids but I am excited to see the girls' reaction to it this year

14. I worry a lot, sometimes I think back at how stupid it is, but I can't help it 

15. I cry very easily, it doesn't make me weak, it's just how I blow off steam 

16. I miss my Grandma and Grandpa Deterding very much and think about how much I could have learned from the both of them if they were still alive today 

17. I have the husband and the house, I guess next comes baby and the baby (times two!)

18. I was the one who pursued Tom, I don't think he even wanted a relationship at the time, we were officially dating at a mud bog 

19. I was in the 4-H club for 10 years of my life, and loved being in it 

20. I am a substitute nurse for the Waterloo School District 

21. I played the flute all through grade school and high school, and I did go to band camp, so don't ask 

22. I love photography, I photographed 2 weddings before, I just wish now I could have the time to do it more 

23. Tom calls me the queen of useless information, I'm a whiz at Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and all of those other cheezy game shows (Tom wants me to try out for Wheel of Fortune) 

24. My dream is to be a stay at home mom, but the reality is: probably not 

25. I love the fact that I grew up on a farm, yes I have sorted hogs, yes I do know how to drive a tractor, I have planted a field of soybeans, I learned to drive a stick shift on a 2 ton grain truck, and I want my children to have as much exposure to this as possible
